Palazzo
Firenze
Headquarters of Società Dante Alighieri since 1926, the Palazzo stands in the heart of Renaissance and Baroque Rome. With ancient origins and a glorious past linked to the figure of Pope Julius III del Monte, as well as to the Medici family of Florence who used it as an embassy in the papal city, it is a residence of considerable architectural and artistic value, to which outstanding creative contributions were made by individuals such as Bartolomeo Ammannati, Jacopo Zucchi and Prospero Fontana. According to a much debated hypothesis, it may perhaps have hosted Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, who, in any case, lived only a few metres from the building.
